This is possible in the current Backtest tool. When setting up your Automation Rules, toggle to Advanced Mode at the top right corner. The last checkbox in the list is Automatically Replace Positions. Uncheck that box to get No Replacements.

Let us know if you have any questions about this. Thanks.

  3. It's great that we can create a Watchlist with a click from Unisearch results. However, these are unchanging...so we don't know if they're successful or not. It would be great if these could be updated to reflect Profit/Loss. Of course, a chart of these changes (would even show us how the portfolio fared under various market conditions...like the Portfolio Summary Report. Thanks for allowing to submit an improvement request.

Try using ithe QuickFolio option instead. QuickFolio will turn the search results into an actual portfolio, so you will get the Profit/Loss as well as a graph.

  4. The value shown in the Table and on chart for portfolio performance do not match for EOD data. The figure in the Table on the left is correct but the figure on the chart is not displayed correctly. This is a bug.

  7. After Zooming in on a chart release the Zoom feature and allow us to click on the chart so that we do not have to move the market days with just the arrow keys. I would rather press zoom a 2nd time if I want to zoom in again.

This is possible by creating a search in Unisearch that uses the Filter By parameter. Create a new Search. For Parameter choose Stocks – Filter By – Watchlists. Choose = for the Operator. And choose the Watchlist you would like to backtest for the Value. Then create a BackTest using this Search. The same can be done by Filtering By Stock to run a BackTest on a single stock.

  12. On the Stock Graph in the Markers menu put another selection option for Market Timing Dates in addition to the one for Stock Splits. This would be a very useful, if not essential, feature to find out how closely individual stocks correlate with the VV Timing Indicator.

This feature already exists in VectorVest 7. To access it, select the Calls button in the bottm-left hand corner near the Splits button. This will overlay the Market Timing Dates onto the stock chart.

If you have any questions about this, let us know.

  13. Please provide timingly updates each time we have updates. My RR7 still shows 10/23/2009 as the most recent updates.

The New Features list has been updated to the latest version and we will keep it updated with new versions as they are released.

  14. I prefer other time periods than the standard ones for MACD. But when I change then there is no apparent difference in the chart

In VectorVest 7, the new Weekly graphs run from Friday to Friday. End Of Week graphs are also still available in VectorVest 7 which includes only the Friday data of each week.

  16. I wanted to see 9 months of advance/decline data. Since I couldn't change the advance/decline minigraph to 9 months, I took the "VVC RT" graph and changed it to 9 months, and then I changed the "VVC RT" into Advance/decline. I got an "Index out of range" error message. I clicked on "OK", then the mini graph whent into an infinite look saying "Loading data".

I think you should have a "0" vote for a bug fix - or increase my number of votes. Otherwise I won't be able to tell you about any more bugs I might find.

This issue is now fixed in Version 1.1.7 of VectorVest 7 which is currently being rolled out to customers.

  17. VectorVest US creates an "index" for each watch list by summarizing the all the stocks in the watch list at the bottom of the list. This feature is not available in VectorVest 7 but should be included.

  19. Modify the parameters set for stochastic to include the required 3 independent paramters:

    Period (look back), n

    Fast stochastic, k

    Slow stochastic, m

Most charting software inlud these 3 independent parameters as follows:

    Period (look back), n

    %K (Fast stcochastic), k

    %D (Slow stochastic), m

    Example:

    Period (look back), n = 14

    %K (Fast stcochastic), k = 5

    %D (Slow stochastic), m = 4

A typical charting software is found at

    FreeStockCharts.com

In Protrader, I could not set the 3 independent parameters as in the exampla above. This type of parameters et flexibility is necessary to apply stochastic analysis to…
