Feedback on watchlists
Overall navigation for watchlists works fine with very good performance. Creating a new watchlist and editing existing is very straightforward.
Hereby some suggestions for further optimization of watchlist functionality:
- Would be good to add the functionality to group watchlists in folders
- The view settings of visible watchlists per page gets reset to default every time you navigate away and would be nice if the last selected number of watchlists per page is saved
- When viewing the stocks within a watchlist, the my watchlists pane is visible all the time and consumes space (especially on a small laptop screen). Would be good if this pane could be minimized too.
- When stock graph is opened as view full graph from a watchlist, there’s no button to close the graph to go back to the watchlist. It only is possible by clicking the back button in the web browser.
- Searching in my watchlists seems to look in the first 10 visible watchlists only, instead of in all watchlists, even when visible watchlists per page is set to 100.
Thank you for your detailed feedback on the Watchlists experience, this is exactly the kind of insight that helps us prioritize improvements effectively.
We’re glad to hear that creating and editing Watchlists feels intuitive and responsive. That’s a key part of our goal to make core workflows feel effortless, especially for newer users.
Your suggestions for further optimization are all well taken:
- Folder/grouping support is a commonly requested enhancement. We removed it to speed up development time as this tier is intended for users new to VectorVest. We have a solution designed that will be in the next tier, which is intended to be the flagship program, closer to VV7.
- Persisting view settings (like the number of Watchlists per page) is a great quality-of-life improvement—we’ll review this as part of broader session memory efforts.
- The point about the persistent Watchlists pane on small screens is especially helpful. We've heard this from many users now and are taking a holistic look at the entire app to make the experience better on smaller screens.
- We agree the lack of a "close graph" or easy return from full-screen stock view needs refinement. We hoped the sidebar would handle that, but we've gotten a ton of feedback about this and are working on a solution to make moving from Watchlists and Portfolios to graphs & reports and back again much smoother.
- Lastly, the issue with searching only the first 10 Watchlists is a bug that will be fixed in an upcoming release to search all pages.
Thanks again for taking the time to provide this feedback. If you have any other thoughts on how Watchlists (or any part of the platform) could better support your workflow, we’d love to hear more.
