  1. It is very helpful to be able to look a graphs and clearly see where past trades were entered and exited. The note can contain all the vital information to evaluate how the decesion was made at the time, and at what price and time.

Graph notes exist in VectorVest 7. To add a Graph Note, click on the small arrow on the graph toolbar next to Freehand Line. The fifth item down is Note.

After selecting Note, you will be able to draw a Note anywhere on the graph. The note will save at the position you drew it for the security that you have graphed.

In VectorVest 7, any of the StockFinder textboxes will work with either the symbol or the company name. Simply start typing the name of the company you are interested in and the list under the textbox will filter to the matching symbols and companies.

  3. Sliders visually represent ratios between Buys, Sells, & Holds "at a Glance" quicker than numbers. The sliders were replaced with numbers between version 1.1.8.6 and 1.1.9.1, NOT an improvement in my opinion

Though the text version is the new default view for the VectorVest at a Glance Gadget, you can configure it to display the original view.

    1) Click on the wrench icon in the upper right of that gadget
    2) Choose “Chart View” from the Display As choices.
    3) Click anywhere inside the gadget (or again on the wrench) to collapse the options.

  4. As VV7 is much better for backtesting than VV6, when will it be available fro EU subscribers?

All alerts sent through Portfolio Automation now contain the name of the portfolio as well as the holding that triggered the alert.

  8. Something is wrong with the software as only allows one entry of a past trade. If I try to enter a trade that occoured at several prices on the fill it will not comprehend more than one entry.

  10. Many times, when running a portfolio with stop losses, the same stock is repurchased the same day it was sold. An adjustable time delay, as in the simulator would be helpful.

Custom Moving Averages are now available in VectorVest 7 for all ProTrader users.

Finding stocks with a Price above or below a Moving Average can be accomplished by creating a Custom Moving Average field.

Last Friday’s Strategy of the Week gives a great overview of how to use Custom Moving Averages in Unisearch searches.

The update is currently being rolled out, but can also be downloaded from http://www.vectorvest.com/install/vectorvest7

We’re proud to announce that VectorVest 7 is now available on Mac OS X 10.7 and later! This solution no longer requires a separate partition or installing Parallels Desktop + Windows. Instead, we use a remote server to host VectorVest 7.

Subscribers will install Parallels RAS Client (free app) to access our software. To start using it, go to vectorvest.com/install/vectorvest7/mac.

To export the Stock Viewer results, right-click on the grid, select Export to .csv at the bottom of the list. And choose whether you would like to export all of the rows or just the selected rows.

It will be exported as a .csv file which is readable in Excel.

This can currently be done by adding a Custom Field of (RV * RS) / RT. Add a Custom Field with the Custom Field Builder at the top right of the screen, next to Alerts, in VectorVest 7.

Fill out the definition and name of the field and press Apply.

The new field will now be available for Sorting.
