Apple/Mac users - Create a full-blown application
We’re proud to announce that VectorVest 7 is now available on Mac OS X 10.7 and later! This solution no longer requires a separate partition or installing Parallels Desktop + Windows. Instead, we use a remote server to host VectorVest 7.
Subscribers will install Parallels RAS Client (free app) to access our software. To start using it, go to http://www.vectorvest.com/install/vectorvest7/mac.

Guys, we would all love a Mac version, but the lesser of all evils is investing in a Windows version AND Parallels software

This way you can seemless like work on both platforms at the same time. Works like a charm for me on a MacBook incl. the VVRealTime and the Simulator.

I agree. I'm thining of leaving this service until this is resolved. I love the product, but frustrated that it doesn't work on mac or Ipad

I dis-continued my subscription about a month ago - my 'new' computer platform is now a Mac. Will be glad to re-join when the system is ported over.

i agree. I wouldn't be a VV subscriber andd will shortly leave if there is no intention to make it compatible with Mac devices. I left VV before because of frustration with the iMac incompatibility and will do it again, with regret.

Yes Java is so fast and efficient to use, and its graphics are about as good as a commadore ^$

I agree VV should be compatible with Apple computer or at least it would be nice to have the portfolios available on VV express 4. It is frustrating to have to turn off the computer and start it with window to see what is going on in the portfolios.

Guys,
I do not understand the difficulty in this. This is the 21st century. We have JAVA language! Write once, run everywhere. I guess Vectorvest is an analysis tool. The hardest work is done on the database. The only thing that has to be changed is the front end. You guys should really rewrite it in JAVA. As such you won't need to perform any maintenance twice. I guess the most difficult part would be the graphics and stuff but there are frameworks for that. You should know the PC is losing ground rapidly in favor of mobile devices as the iPad which dominated about 70% of the tablet market. At the home front, Apple is also gaining ground rapidly. You cannot ignore these people.
If you guys need help in rewriting the software or porting it to Apple, contact me at lorenzo@webworks.be. We are software experts with 20 years of experience...
Kind regards

Dear Sirs
I'll be the first sign up for VectorVest again when I can use it on my Mac. I was a long time user
but just could not put up with PC's and Microsoft any longer. I'll keep in touch.

I agree with all the other users. I just cancelled my VV Express. It was useless and a waste of money. Get with the times VV and do what all Mac users want. Compatibility with Mac!!!

Regards to Robin Ying's comment, even through it's too hard to re-write the whole solution to make it compatible in Mac, but it's time to invest money in the R&D in this direction. Compatibility is always a key factor to win customers.

VV. It's time to get in the game. You must develop your software to work on Apple products. One of my favorite sayings is, "Nothing changes if Nothing changes". If you do not get with it you will lose customers and not have access to the many Apple users and new converts.

It has NOTHING to do with what Apple is today.
To make VV to work on Mac OS is more difficult than to make your gasoline car to run on diesel.
The VV is based on the Microsoft platform, and it will not run on the Mac OS (which is Unix based) unless they (the VV guys) do a total re-write (like swap the engine) of the application.
Have you ever seen the IE browser on a native MacBook? You will NEVER see it. I bet 1M Apple shares with you.
On the other hand, you probably saw (or used) Firefox, Chrome, Safari browsers running on both Mac and Windows. The reason is very simple, it is much easier to port an application developed in the Mac OS/Unix/Linux platforms to Windows, but not the other way.
Too bad, when VV started, they chose the Windows platform for easier development, much less demand on the software developers, and faster to get the results. Also at that time, Mac was not very popular either. Unfortunately the result is the application runs slower (see other enhancement requests), takes up more memory and system resources, and will NOT be able to port to the Mac OS (unless Microsoft makes their platform runs on Mac OS - that will be a looooooong shot).
Now you are requesting them to swap the engine, would you swap yours?

I probably should use the word "platform" instead of "architecture" in my previous comment below.
A second strong evidence indicating the VV client is based on the Microsoft platform is that the old VV6 only works in the IE browser, not Firefox, not Chrome, not Safari ....

I used to be a software developer. Looking at the VV7 client (the part you install on your Windows PC), most likely it is solely based on the Microsoft's architecture. In other words, it is VERY difficult to make it work on the native Mac (of course, you can load Windows OS on a Mac, make it dual boot, or you can use a desktop VM - like Parallels in the Mac OS, then create a virtual Windows PC and install the VV7 client).
But to make the Microsoft architecture to work under Mac OS, you pretty much have to "re-write" the entire application. On the other hand, if the application was originally written on the Mac OS (or Unix, or Linux), it is "rather" easy to port it to the Windows side, and it will run more efficiently than a Windows architecture based application.
Seeing every time I launch the VV7 on my PC and it eats up 170M+ of memory space (the vvShell.exe if you look at the Windows Task Manager), my guess is that it is Windows architecture based. Yet, I may be wrong. I am only looking from the outside of this black box.
On the other hand, VV does have a free iPAD app, I used it everyday to listen to the daily views. The drawback is that it can only go back to 5 days, I have made an enhancement request to have it to include a calendar so the user can select any day in the past, I will appreciate if you guys can support that idea and give it some more votes. The iPAD app is handy if you want to follow the weekly strategy video by listening and watching it on the iPAD while practicing it on your PC at the same time.
