You can't do this on viewers, but you can in unisearch.

Check out our built in search 'new buys' or give us a call to find out how to quickly identify stocks that have recently gotten a buy rec

Next to the "Run" button, there are 2 checkboxes. One of them will stop the backtester any time a position is closed. This should let you cherry pick the stocks to repurchase when a position is closed. Hope that helps.

Can you identify the areas of the software that took you longer than 5 weeks to learn?

If you change the timeframe of an existing backtest by adding more time to the end, then choose "Finish & Execute Manually" rather than "Finish & Rerun" you can run the test from where it left off to the new time.

For instance, if the test has been run to 1/1/2010 and you edit the test and change the end date to 1/14/2010, then choose "Finish & Execute Manually", you can move the time cursor to 1/14/2010 and click the run button to update only from 1/1 - 1/14.

    Is that what you mean?

    Hi Tom,

The current default is to buy/sell at next day's open. For each backtest, you can set that to current day's close, or next day's average.

We're looking into developing a good way to allow user's to set their own defaults without adding too much complexity.

    Hi Carol,

You can see that graph in a couple of different ways.

    1) As a stock graph
    - on graphs tab, enter VVC as stock to graph
    - at bottom left, press button that says "Confirmed Calls"

    2) As a market timing graph
    - on graphs tab, (at top left) change graph type from Stock to Market Timing
    - at bottom left, press button that says "Confirmed Calls"

Either of those methods will allow you to change the time period as you see fit, and see green and red markers where the confirmed calls happen. Hover over the markers and see an overlay for the entire width of the call.

If you still have problems, please call for support.

You can get the results that you're after (if i understand correctly), by creating a custom search in the UniSearch tool.

Start with the search that you want to use (Rare Birds for example). Customize that search by adding a new parameter:

    Date/Time : TimeOfSearch
    Parameter : Stocks/Filter By/Watchlist
    Operator : =
    Value : <Choose your watchlist>

Save this search as a new search (My Modified Rare Birds, for example).

Now, run your backtest against the "My Modified Rare Birds" search.
