THERE IS A FAULT IN THE SOFTWARE. THE SHARE PRICE DIVIDES BY 1000 WHEN THE PRICE GETS HIGH AND INCORRECTLY CALCULATES THE PORTFOLIO VALUE.
FIX THE PROBLEM PLEASE IT IS AFFECTING THE PORTFOLIO VALUES OF NASPERS AND INBEV IN SOUTH AFRICA. I UNDERSTAND SOME OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 4 MONTHS NOW!!

In Portfolio; add a percentage column for percentage of each stock in the portfolio
Without having to go to the diversification graph, it would be good to have a column in the portfolio to show what percentage of each stock make up the total portfolio.

Make portfolio cash deposits and withdrawals G/L neutral
Currently, if you add cash to a portfolio, VectorVest calculates the addition as if your portfolio gained that much through trading, and if you withdraw money from a portfolio, VectorVest calculates that as a loss. Depositing and withdrawing money to or from a trading account are activities that investors do on a regular basis. Such transactions should not affect the G/L%.
The workaround for this calculating error is to modify the opening deposit. Modifying the opening deposit does reduce the effect of this miscalculation, but it also slightly reduces the G/L percentages since the gains and losses will be calculated…16 votes -
Place the "Upcoming Dividend Dates" option back among the Portfolio shortcut menu selections
In the previous version of VectorVest you could highlight the stocks in your Portfolio(s) and right click to get a shortcut menu. On that shortcut menu you could select "Upcoming Dividend Dates" to get a listing of ex-dividend and dividend payout dates for the stocks in your portfolio.
In VectorVest 7 the "Upcoming Dividend Dates" option is not in the available selections on the shortcut menu - so you have to have and maintain a separate watchlist containing the stocks in your portfolio(s) to get this information because the option IS available in the watchlist shortcut menu but IS NOT…

Add weekly trading to portfolio
I run a weekly search but the portfolio only allows daily alerts. In the daily mode, the timing system may request a sell and buy a new stock while in the weekly mode it may hold on the the stock. Right now I cannot use and set up the portfolio and have to rely on running the backup test.
Many thanks for a wonderful system.2 votes -

Include moving averages to graph of your porfolios
Just add the 3/8 EMA as we have been using this for entry/exit in the Derby Club from our positions but when using the market crossings this isn't always indicative of the actual portfolio. This also would mean we could watch a single window where the trades are actually made - RoboTrader

When in one's portfolio screen, have an extra column that would show Gain/Loss percentage over different periods. Days, weeks, months.
Have an extra column in the portfolio screen which displays the percentage gain or loss (ROI) against each stock for different periods. Have the period selected by right clicking the column heading and choosing preset periods (e.g. 1,2,3,5,10 days, 1, 2,3, months, last quarter, last half year etc. or leave a space where one can simply enter the period required). At the moment one only has the ROI from date of purchase or from date of portfolio inception)

Add all portfolio statistics in the Portfolios tab
The Portfolios tab in the top just shows "Buying Power", "% GL Today", "Total Value", and "%GL". Unfortunately other important statistics are left out, like ARR, CROR and Max Drawdown.
To get those statistics I always need to build a backtest of the portfolio. Please, add all the additional statistics in the Portolios tab (%Winners, Total Commission, ARR,CROR, and Max Drawdown). It would make everybody's life easier, and those are very important numbers to be aware of. I'm not sure why they were omitted in the first place.

For trailing stops set in portfolio it should be possible to graph the value from the date set. On any given day the value should be shown.
For any stock in portfolio, where a trailing stop is set it should be possible to graph the progress of the stop along with the price of the stock. It should also be able to show the value for the trailing stop on a daily basis.

I need more than 10 GENIUSES - Can I have 20, please?
I think the GENIUS is one of the best features in VectorVest.
After I run my back tests, I convert the portfolio and turn the GENIUS ON to see how it will trade in the future.
I need more than 10.
Could we have 20 please?3 votes -

Consider dividends and option premiums to determine trailing stops in portfolio positions
To get a true trailing stop, dividends and option premiums should be an option to determine trailing stop price. These effectively reduce your cost basis. Currently, the only way to consider this is to edit purchase price in reports when some sort of payment is made.
