  2. Allow a stop loss criteria alert to be set as a percentage from the purchase price; not a previous closing price (or any other 'moving' price) since you have no reference point. This way you can 'see' the decline as it happens and be notified that the loss has crossed that percentage amount. This will avoid having to create multiple portfolios of the same stocks to be notified when a stock is down by 1%, 2%, 3%, etc...from purchase price. This is more accurate than your current stop loss criteria possibilities, in my opinion. Seems like it would be an…

  3. I would like to see Contra ETFs and Leveraged Contra ETFs included in the backtesting setups for the 2014 Confirmed Call Sure Fire Success series. This would allow use in IRA accounts. My Backtest results using Leveraged Contra ETFs as a substitute for the Short strategies have yield approximately 3% improvements in % Gain, ARR, and DrawDn percentages.

  4. Squeeze Formation: Attached is a screen shot of a chart from my Tradestation charting program, showing what is called the "Squeeze Formation." It is a bullish formation with the MACD and ADX where the MACD is on top and the ADX on the bottom. When these two diverge with MACD rising and ADX falling for 3 days, statistically, better than 80% of the time the stock has a significant bullish move within the next 3-5 days. The screen shot shows the DJ Index on 10/14/13 with the Green dot below the price bar indicating the formation as shown in the…

  6. Similarly to what you can already do horizontally, for those of us that like to draw Price Target lines above the existing price action or Stop Loss lines below, it would be great to be able to shrink the chart vertically to a Custom View to facilitate this. When in the Custom View, perhaps a translucent hot spot (button or symbol) could appear to return the chart to the current 'best fit' in one click.

  7. For those of us who like to mark up a chart, it would be really helpful to assign the different drawing objects to a FUNCTION key. This would save a couple of mouse-clicks and having to choose the option from the drop-down menu every time you want to change the drawing object.

  9. I am creating my own "Derby" with the backtester by setting up a standard template with a specified testing period then testing a set of popular searches with that template.

I am assembling the results into an Excel spreadsheet where I can run these backtests periodically (daily, weekly?) to see which of the selection of popular searches are doing the best - like the "Derby" module only under my control and with my own history.

This is very tedious and time consuming, however. It would be easy to program into the backtester module a feature that would permit user to…

  12. I day trade stocks entering at market open based on previous days closing signals and close today 15 minutes before market closes, win or lose. Repeat the next day. I cannot seem to make the backtest module replicate this process. I decide on bullish or bearish positions based on my own proprietary market direction signals not VV calls. I would like to test a search by putting my start and end date for bull or bear move in backtester, then have the backtester buy previous day's search results at market open price today and close all positions at market close…

  13. Adding a rich calendar of holidays, earnings, macro-economic release dates and times, ex-dividend payouts, "last week of <month>" would allow searching and backtesting for stocks that have consistent behavior surrounding these events (e.g. Search for stocks that trend upward for the week each year prior to "US Thanksgiving" or "Good Friday", or stocks that drop and recover share price within 5 days of ex-dividend date or go up in the afternoon when "New Home Sales" are reported positively in the morning). Allow these event markers to be stop criteria as well.

  16. If the system is undergoing maintenance or there are system problems that impact users (particularly on the weekend) please provide notice to the users when they sign in. In this way users can choose to undertake their studies at another time or at least better understand why the system is not working at peak performance.

  17. A search that would find stocks whose price history shows a SAWTOOTH pattern would be ideal for short-term traders. REPEATED, regular up and down motions are needed. Then the trader could buy at a bottom, ride the price up, sell at the top, short sell on the way down, and then REPEAT the process all over again. Present delta searches seem to find one-time price changes.

If I could find only ONE stock that showed such a pattern, I could become a millionaire in jig time.
