Portfolio layout allows creation of a custom field but the field is not available in the portfolio

I agree with Stanley and James. I want to add a field to tell me which of my accounts this stock is held. I just want to enter text or briefly a 1 or 2 or 3. When I follow James Hamby's example I just get "The field account is not recognized."

yes I would like to have some custom fields in the portfolio layout. very useful

Right click a row in Portfolio > left click layout > left click "f(x)" button to bring up Custom Field Builder > either select a previously created custom field from the drop down or create and new one > click Finish. You will now find that the custom field was not added to the list of fields available for Portfolio. Why is the "f(x)" button there if it is not going to work? At least it should show a pop-up saying that a custom field cannot be added to the Portfolio layout.
