Allow VV7 Proxy Settings to be customized
This new VV7 platform (both realtime and delayed) does not work from behind firewalls. So it is not very useful for working people who have corporate firewalls that block unknown network ports.
Can VV7 be made to use standard Internet protocols to get its data that way it will work for all of us?

WHEN is this going to be addressed. My assumption is that it has been 6 years and that it is NOT going to be addressed.

@timothymcgrath: It has been 4 years since your last comment about implementing proxy server settings on VV7.
Obtaining the proxy settings from the browser does not work for a SECURE proxy server. We still need the ability to add user/password authentication to the proxy server AND we need the ability to change this as our companies require us to change our passwords on regular intervals.

Any idea how to setup proxy, as of now automatically taking the proxy settings and not able to see the real time data.

What is the status of VV7 real time working through a corporate proxy server firewall? Why can't we enter the proxy address ourselves for port 80 like various broker software does. Call TDA ThinkOrSwim developers, their broker desktop application works great with and without a proxy firewall. I just want to know if the issue is being addressed, yes or no? thanks.

Once again I am faced with an issue of not being able to experience Intraday price changes wile connecting from the office. Unlike in the past it does not work anymore, I tried having US on intraday, CA on intraday, flipped between 2 different proxy settings available for me, but to no avail.
I wonder if you can still do anything to reconfigure it on VV side...??? It is so useless to have Intraday capability but not being able to use it.every time I start VV7 I get the prices up to last tick, so obviously I do connect to data feed somehow. Continuous data feed is an issue, though. It is becoming a headache.
Thank you

Timothy,
Thanks for implementing this. It is a great addition to the program. -

Andre, I'm going to reopen this suggestion but rename it to Allow Customizable Proxy Settings.

Hi Tim,
Than you for providing this capability. It works great for anyone who is behind the firewall defined in Internet Options proxy settings.
What I was asking for, however, was the ability to enter the proxy server, port and password manualy. Proxy Server defined on my IE is not the one I want to use for VV7 connection. Everyone tries to protect themself from various on-line viruses,ad-ware, phishing attacs, etc., so firewal setups for Internet Connections are in many cases very strict and will not alow datafeed functionality from VV7 to work properly.
Please, consider this for the future upgrade of VV7
Thank you

Duane,
Our next update to VectorVest 7 will contain a feature to read the Internet Options proxy settings and use those to connect.
Thanks.

Andre,
We are working on an update to let you connect VectorVest 7 using your proxy settings.
We are currently testing this and hope to have it in our next update to VectorVest 7.

Timothy,
You won't be able to satisfy everybody who is behind the firewall as each and every one can be set up differently. Why don't you provide us with the edit to make VV7 use the proxy, which would let it go through?I can submit the errors I am still getting here, as whatever you said about the fix 2 month ago did not help me at all. Let us enter proxy information on VV7 and VV6 for that matter as I feel that will help.

Not only VV7, but also VV6 would not work. VV7 is not even capable to start up, while VV6 would start, but than the buttons (Viewers, Portfolio, Research) return the no results. This depends on the set up of individual firewalls. Please, provide an edit for proxy setup for VV6 and VV7.
Please, do not suggest to use VV6 Express as a workaroung as it is useless.

Pat,
We definitely won't be adding streaming back into VectorVest 6. Most of our new development is focused on VectorVest 7.
The first fix should have helped VectorVest 7 to work much better without a stream .
We are now looking into getting streaming to work from behind a firewall, so that you will be able to use the full functionality of VectorVest 7.

Timothy,
I can use VV6 already at work. Without the streaming, VV7 doesn't have much added value for me. How about adding streaming to VV6 instead (without the firwall problem.)
Thanks.

Yes, please fix this! This is the most frustrating problem with the s/w.

We are adding a fix in the next update that will help VectorVest 7 to work better from behind a firewall. You still won't be able to use streaming data without opening ports on the firewall, but you will be able to use the application without any streaming data.

Please fix this! Anyone who spends their day behind a corporate firewall is at a great disadvantage and can NOT use the most importannt features of VV7.
