Alerts for Individual Stocks

How about a choice to get alerts via email, text messages, or both? You would have options to choose technical alerts or Buy, Hold or Sell recommendations on any stock or ETF.

Yes, please add the ability to set alerts for individual stocks. One should be able to highlight any stock from any of the list, right click and the find a alert manager which allows to set different criteria. Criteria should be multiple choices starting with price. Protrader clients should be able to set alerts based on breaking moving averages, etc. Thanks!

I do a lot of my research after hours but would love to be able to get an alert during the day when a stock hits a certain price point so I can then log on to my brokerage account and place the trade I planned during off hours.

I'd like to be alerted when a stock meets a price I select. I often want to be alerted when price goes beyond Support or Resistance. This feature is available in my brokerage, but not VV.

Hi Timothy,
As part of these email alerts, we are hoping that VectorVest can alert a change in :
1) A newly "CONFIRMED UP", or a newly "CONFIRMED DOWN" generated signals on any ticker that exists in a chosen Porfolio selected for email alerts. (confirmed calls)
2) A change on a ticker on the first day that it is Recommended as a "BUY", or on the first day that it is Recommended as a "SELL". Again those would be signaled as part of a Portfolio chosen for email Alerts.
Also, a daily Alert check at the end of day, would be just fine under VectorVest 7. Why is this feature only tied up to the real time data and updates. Alerts can easily be just tested and triggered at each end-of-day and emailed as necessary at that time. Is that not possible to do ?
Please advise if that is a feature that can be added without the Watchdog or the readTime VV version.
Thanks,
Itai. -

This is not currently an option in VectorVest 7, Vance, but its a great idea.
What sort of alerts are you interested in putting on specific stocks?

James Cassidy commented
A specific price alert is the most important type of alert.

I've missed so many buys and sells on individual stocks because of the amount of manual maintenace required to be alerted to the appropriate transaction in a timely manner. With VV 7 the timeliness problem is solved, BUT Buy/Sell alerts for individual stocks is not currently available. Angel Clarks idea would be of signicant value in solving the timeliness issue and would be a most welcome addition.

I have categorized this feature request as a Watchdog improvement.
The Watchdog currently allows you to receive an alert through email when a stock meets certain criteria.
It currently does not include a change in REC as a criteria setting, but it can be added.
It already contains the ability of filtering by Watchlists. If you haven't tried the Watchdog yet, it is free with VectorVest 7 RealTime, or you can sign up for a trial of the Watchdog with an Intraday account by calling customer support.
Thanks for the feedback!

the stock alerts could be place on stocks to signal when to actually make the trade when it hits a certain price level, alerts would be for either buying or selling the stock. this differs from portfolio automation in that users would not need to add the stock to a portfolio first, and it would allow you to set an alert for each individual stock, rather than using the same trigger (i.e. 5% Trailing Stop) for all stocks.
