Hi Timothy, I do not see these options on recent download of VV7. Is it open any users or only to the Pro Trader purchase. Access should be offered any users who have ben your customers more than One year.

VectorVest should enable using a Custom Moving Average as a Stop Criteria in the BackTester. Investors use MAs as a guide for their investing.

I'm extremely disappointed that this is only available with Real-Time or ProTrader. What about the Intra-Day users? I guess we don't get any love this time around.

Yes, MA of RT is included. An MA can be added to any field that can be created in the Custom Field Builder.
This feature will be released in not weeks or months, but days. I'll let you know when it is available for download.

It's great to hear that you are developing and close to releasing customizable moving averages for use in Unisearch. This will be revolutionary. Two questions: will this include MAs of RT? And will the release time be in weeks or months from now?

Add the capability to have many of the technical indicators (not just MA's) available in VV such as ATR useable as custom columns in watch lists or portfolios. For example many would like to have VV calculate a trailing ATR stop or a Chales LeBeaus's Chandelier stop (https://community.tradestation.com/discussions/data/20050225165005lebeau.pdf) and display it in a watach list so it can then be changed where necessary with the broker. Fixed percentage stops such as 10% or 15% are not necessarily appropriate with stocks which have vastly diffirent volatilities.

Given the recent excitement around them... MA RT(10) and MA RT(15) would be great. Ideally, the format could be: MA <field> (time) where <field> and (time) can be any, including custom fields. To differentiate time, the number could be followed by a unit: 10d = 10 day MA and 10w would equal 10 week MA.

Make sure that the 50 and 200 MA are covered, thanks

Adjustable MA's should be part of the search criteria, not just crossovers, as it is presently.

yes, being able to scan for ema crosses as well as slope of ma would be great. also, i have a scan that is doing very well but it illadvisedly shorted a stock that has only been listed for a few months. if there was a simple operation available such as "ema 200>0" it would automatically eliminate IPO's and young stocks, which skew the scan.

Here is a good example, the Midas Touch: Requires 10d MA(Stop) > 65d MA(Stop); AND 40d MA(RT) > 1.
You can fake the first one using the RMA capability ( Stop; RMA; MA(10)/MA965) > 1), but since you cannot use RT (or any other VectorVest indicator) in RMA you can't fake it with RMA (which would be RT; RMA; MA(40)/MA91) > 1).
You cannot define the moving averages as a Custom Field, which you can do in VV6. IF you could then it is simply 10 Day MA(stop) > 65 Day MA(Stop) AND 40 Day MA(RT) > 1.
I would ask that you at least bring VV7, with ProTrader, up to the capability of VV6, with ProTrader.

I would like to see moving averages (sma's, ema's and wma's) customizable and not limited to crossovers only.

Kimberly,
VectorVest 7 has moving averages available in both graphs and unisearch. Are you looking for moving averages in a different area of VectorVest 7? -
Farrell Pierson commented
Looking for MA crossovers in Unisearch would be very useful in parameters other than stock price (eg. stop price, RT). These parameters are used in Midas Touch graph, but you can't do a Unisearch for stocks exhibiting these entry/exit points.
