We need to be able to create folders to keep backtests organized.

First suggested in 2010. It's 2021. Should we just give up on the idea of folders in the backtests? Seems like such a simple change to implement.

Absolutely. Keeping them all straight is a significant challenge. Folders would make organizing them really simple.

This would be useful as you quickly can accumulate a number of Backtests.

This is especially pertinent considering the stress testing you covered in the 5/29/15 SOTW.
A user friendly way to do this would be to add SAVE and LOAD among the existing action buttons. The user could name the list of back-tests themselves. The files could still reside on the VV servers along with the rest of the user data. Thanks for listening. -

Folders would help make the backtests feature more useful. At present I have to kludge it by adding an initial letter so that backtests of a similar kind display near each other. Folders would simplify evaluating the results of similar backtests immensely and allow sorting say, by return, just for the type being reviewed.

This is a much needed feature. Wonder why it is not there?

Is anything being planned with regards to this? We're still patiently waiting.

Backtest lists can get rather large and hard to handle which folder organization would solve.

Folders in Backtester and in Portfolios should be a no-brainer. In Portfolios, they have grouped the VV model portfolios so that you can hide them with one click of a check box. A recent up grade allowed you to pick the page (Home, Viewers, Unisearch, Portfolios, etc. However, they stopped short on this idea. They should have allowed the user to set a default WITHIN most pages. For example, I may want to start in Viewers, Sector Viewer rather than in Viewers staring at a blank screen. The same is true in Portfolios. I may want to start by looking at "My Active Portfolio" rather than a blank screen.

Please also let us highlight selected backtests (such as the one(s) we are actively using to run/track our actual portfolios).

Please, let us know what you think about this request. Thank you.

User should be able to put backtest into folders. Backtest should copy searches into description or store it somewhere where one could see it on the row line (where g/L, Name of test, etc.) Backtester should be able to take in custom list.

You're 100% correct Bill.
For starters, let's start with the addition of a name for the backtest. Then VV should be able to group by it the same way it groups by StartDate, Search Type, etc.
This way we'd be able to come up with different names for our groups of backtests. It is extremely painfull and slow to go through 20 backtests line after line. -

Along these lines, it would be easier to organize the backtests if all backtest parameters could be seen in column view so that we can sort, group, and filter on them. Examples: Name of Long search, name of Short search, Long stop criteria, Short stop criteria, number of positions to maintain, etc.
