I neglected, in my yesterday’s post, to note that confusion may arise because VV USA (VU) UNISEARCH contains reference to Searches SFS only
I neglected, in my yesterday’s post, to note that confusion may arise because VV USA (VU) UNISEARCH contains reference to Searches SFS only … this is because the Searches SFS and Searches SFS 2014 are identical (Parameters and Sorts are the same) … the difference in Searches SFS and Searches SFS 2014 only relates to the way the search portfolios are managed .. Searches SFS are managed by BACKTESTER .. Searches SFS 2014 are managed with a sheet of scribble paper that itemizes the name of the strategy and keeps track of a stock hitting its stop, being replaced by…

VU VIEWS / SOTW Dec 27, 2013, came out with a brand new SFS called SFS 2014 .. Brian D’Amico gave a beautiful description of the properties of the new 2014 strategy and how to use SFS 2014
the properties and management of the new SFS 2014 were totally different from properties and management of the prior and continuing standard SFS system … specifically, (1) management of prior SFSs, like other strategies, required use of UNISEARCH tab and BACKTESTER tab and preparation of BACKTESTER tab required input of complex settings .. (2) management of the new SFS 2014 strategy was…1 vote -
Portfolio Price Field should be Bid when Long and Ask when Short not Last as it seems
The price field in portfolios seems to be the last price. It should reflect the Bid price if the stock is long and the Ask price if it is shorted.

VV7-Cut and Paste-Color Guard Table
In VV6, one can cut and paste the color guard data into an excel spread sheet. This cannot be done in VV7, and I view this is an important option that should be added.
Thanks.

stochastic
In Unisearch stochastic Osc the number of days DPeriod should range [1-100] or custom editable. Also it will be good to have filter based on stochastic %D Period and %K Period crossover or Crossunder other than only overbought/oversold.

Build search of underlying (Indexes, ETFs, Stocks) with little price movement to trade calendar spreads and iron condors
Invent a new search to identify the underlying (with optioned indexes, ETFs, or stocks) which have narrow channels or price movements in order to place Calendar Spreads or Iron Condors.

Expand BackTest Sell options by creating a "Sell Criteria" UniSearch
UniSearch allows many options for selecting individual stocks during backtesting. However stop criteria for stocks in the portfolio are much more limited.
So here is the idea. Have a "Buy UniSearch" and a "Sell UniSearch" . For stop criteria in BackTester add one new capability -- stop if stock in the current portfolio meets (or does not meet) "Sell UniSearch criteria.
Your first thought might be of concern for the extra compute power this might take. Perhaps this can be mitigated somewhat by having an implied criteria on Sell UniSearch to filter by stocks in the current portfolio, much as…

Auto Tester Override Stop Criteria for Positions Opened in Different Situation
When using Auto tester, add a new feature called Override Stop (in addition to Buy Long, Cash, No Action). This feature would allow a strategy to override Stop Criteria during that signal phase. For example, if the Up phase Buy Long used a Stop of VST < 1.0, the strategy could change to VST < 1.1 during a Neutral Phase. If the signal phase goes back to Up, the Stops for those positions returns to VST < 1.0.

1. "deleted" Portfolio temporary file for recovery
Put "deleted" portfolios into a temporary "recently deleted" file that can be recovered if necessary.
I lost years of data that may never be replicated because I accidentally hit the delete button. It would be great if i could recover it like a deleted e-mail.1 vote -
tune RS and RV
1) RS measures safety. I would like it to give more emphasis to short term price variablitity. For ex, GIL has pretty variable price, but RS is 1.4. It should be lower because of the price variability.
2) GRT seems to be based on backwards earnings. I would like it to be based on forward earmings. For ex, WCRX shows GRT of 36, but when I use forward earnings estimate from Yahoo, I get GRT of (3.48-3.43)/3.43 or 0

I was hoping that the new Sure Fire portfolio's would be started as of this year. Would it be possible to have them as well?
I would just like to see the portfolio's started as of the new year, this way we would be able to follow and should get closely matching results. I would like to see both the new and the back tested portfolio's. Perhaps a yearly accounting as you do with some of the other portfolio's; close the year out and start a new year, this would help both new users and long term users alike.
