Day Trading Backtesting - Closing Trades at End of Day
I day trade stocks entering at market open based on previous days closing signals and close today 15 minutes before market closes, win or lose. Repeat the next day. I cannot seem to make the backtest module replicate this process. I decide on bullish or bearish positions based on my own proprietary market direction signals not VV calls. I would like to test a search by putting my start and end date for bull or bear move in backtester, then have the backtester buy previous day's search results at market open price today and close all positions at market close…

A search for stocks that may trend relative to holidays/calendar events with variable dates/times
Adding a rich calendar of holidays, earnings, macro-economic release dates and times, ex-dividend payouts, "last week of <month>" would allow searching and backtesting for stocks that have consistent behavior surrounding these events (e.g. Search for stocks that trend upward for the week each year prior to "US Thanksgiving" or "Good Friday", or stocks that drop and recover share price within 5 days of ex-dividend date or go up in the afternoon when "New Home Sales" are reported positively in the morning). Allow these event markers to be stop criteria as well.

Notify users of system maintenance
If the system is undergoing maintenance or there are system problems that impact users (particularly on the weekend) please provide notice to the users when they sign in. In this way users can choose to undertake their studies at another time or at least better understand why the system is not working at peak performance.

Search for sawtooth pattern
A search that would find stocks whose price history shows a SAWTOOTH pattern would be ideal for short-term traders. REPEATED, regular up and down motions are needed. Then the trader could buy at a bottom, ride the price up, sell at the top, short sell on the way down, and then REPEAT the process all over again. Present delta searches seem to find one-time price changes.
If I could find only ONE stock that showed such a pattern, I could become a millionaire in jig time.

Add Dividend Payments made on stocks during the period of the backtest
To assess the overall performance of a backtest, the details of dividends paid during the period of the backtest are a vital component of the assessment.

An "Insert Comment" feature for every issue in a Watchlist.
I keep a Watchlist of all the stocks in my several brokerage accounts and also a Watchist of stocks I consider "Possibilities". It would be helpful if I could attach a note to each stock listed that showed the various reasons I bought it, the date and what my goal or thoughts were at the time (or who was the dumkof who recommended it).
This "Insert Comment" feature is available in Excel where I find it quite useful.1 vote -
Simplify the ability to move a Watchlist file into a folder. Add a "Move" option. Current options are Copy, Edit, Delete.

Add new stock - AAL, to replace LCC
LCC has become AAL, following a merger of U.S.Air with American Airlines. As it is a fairly large part of two differant portfolios I have, I would certainly appreciate your fine system actuating this change. Thank you for your consideration.

Editting closing price in portfolios if sell is during the day and not end of day.
If I have closed my position during the day and not at the end of day, the system does not allow any editing of closing price for the position.

Allow search criterion for daily volume to be able to be increased for higher volume traders.
Your standard searches use 100000 shares average as the volume criterion. I trade a significantly larger portfolio than $100,000. For example trading $1.5 M portfolio, looking to buy 20 stocks would have a buy order of $75,000 for each stock. However many of your searches have stock price criterion of >$1. That means I could be placing orders for 75% of the daily volume or on the selling side be trying to sell 75% of the average daily volume. Either would cause a major disruption to the price. An improvement would be able to change the criterion for both the…

Portfolio Price Field should be Bid when Long and Ask when Short not Last as it seems
The price field in portfolios seems to be the last price. It should reflect the Bid price if the stock is long and the Ask price if it is shorted.
